THE "EYES AND EARS" OF THE UCLA BRAIN ATTACK TEAM
UCLA's Stroke Program, comprised of Stroke Force (SSF) & Stroke Team (SST), is led by Dr. May Nour & Dr. Jeffrey Saver. The program has been operating since 1992.
Stroke Force is an undergraduate club that works side-by-side with UCLA Health neurologists and emergency physicians in the Emergency Department at Ronald Reagan Medical Center.
Stroke Force members are Research Associates & Public Advocates. Our focus is on spreading awareness about stroke through outreach, health fairs, and community presentations. We serve as a voice for the public to learn about stroke signs, characteristics, and risk factors.
What We Do
CLINICAL RESEARCH
Members work under the guidance of top neurologists, identifying stroke patients who qualify for enrollment in clinical trials
COMMUNITY OUTREACH
Our club represents UCLA at health fairs and delivers presentations with the goal of raising stroke awareness, focusing on underserved and undereducated communities.
CONTINUING EDUCATION
In an ever-changing field, we keep ourselves at the forefront of stroke knowledge with neurorounds, journal clubs, and member projects
Why
Stroke?

Stroke is a leading cause of death and disability.
Over 13 million people have a stroke each year.
More than half of those strokes result in death.

However...
80% of strokes are preventable.
For a person experiencing a stroke, the faster they can get to the hospital, the better their outcomes and chance of recovery. If you saw someone having a stroke, would you be able to recognize it?
Resources
A stroke is not a one-time event-it is a lifelong journey. Fortunately, this journey does not have to be taken alone. We've outlined a range of resources to support you at every stage—from initial treatment to rehabilitation, adjustment, and support groups for both survivors and caregivers.
