If you or someone you know has been affected by stroke, you are not alone.

We’ve outlined several resources below that we hope may be of some use to you. Please note that these lists are by no means exhaustive, but are only meant to provide a starting stage.

Support Networks

Stroke Association of Southern California - Los Angeles

A stroke support group that provides a space for caregivers and survivors to connect through weekly virtual meetings. Participants receive emotional, social, and educational support, as well as practical advice for living with disability and fostering independence. Find out more here.

UCLA Stroke Support Group

A support group open to survivors and caregivers alike, centered in the Westwood area. They conduct virtual meetings where they offer educational and emotional support. Find out more here.​

Keck Medicine of USC Stroke Support Group

This online support group is open to stroke survivors from across the globe.  The host also has a podcast titled "Life After Stroke", where he speaks with survivors, doctors, and therapists about stroke-related topics. Find out more here.​

AHA Stroke Topic Discussion Page

Community forum for questions and information, including virtual support group meetings for survivors and caregivers. Find out more here.

BINA Crisis Intervention & Family Support

This nonprofit offers several support groups and resources for families that have been affected by stroke. Free counseling and education are provided. Find out more here.

USC CareNav

A secure, confidential online program that provides personalized information, support and resources for family caregivers of adults with chronic physical or cognitive conditions such as Alzheimer’s, stroke, Parkinson’s, TBI, and other illnesses. Find out more here.

Caregiver Action Network

A program offering guidance for caregivers of individuals with chronic conditions, disabilities, or diseases –– including stroke. Features instructional videos, financial and legal tools, and community support. Find out more here.

Family Caregiver Alliance Support Groups

This page lists several support groups, some focused on specific ethnicities and/or sexualities. These groups are meant to provide a safe place to discuss caregiving for loved ones with disorders including but not limited to stroke. Find out more here.

Finances After Stroke Guide

A guide by the American Stroke Association that identifies several paths for managing the costs of rehabilitation and life post-stroke. Find out more here.

A nonprofit focused on providing legal advocacy for patients with chronic conditions, oftentimes through financial aid. Find out more here.

National Disability Rights Network

The National Disability Rights Network is a nonprofit with agencies in every state and national territory, advocating for people with disabilities. Find out more here.

A financial assistance program dedicated to helping stroke survivors and their families receive various kinds of therapy. Find more here.

211 has a list of resources covering healthcare and utilities expenses, as well as general bills associated with caregiving. Find out more here.

Adapting
to Life
Post-Stroke

Every journey is different — there is no one-size-fits-all mold to stroke recovery. All the same, the American Stroke Association’s Life After Stroke page has a variety of resources that may be of use. Each of these guides were made specifically with stroke survivors in mind, and are meant to help provide insight into new ways of living.
